Unique in its kind in Ile-de-France, Toutouccino welcomes canids, still undesirable in many shops, and their bipedal companions. On the menu: coffees and good food for humans, health and well-being services for animals.
Outside, the torrential rain drools against the window of the old creperie. A jack russell walks through the door, bundled up in his doll-size red fleece raincoat. At 67, rue Faubourg Saint-Martin, in Meaux, it already smells a bit of wet dog. Toutouccino, the first “dog bar” in Ile-de-France – there are some in Lille, Toulouse and Nantes – opened its doors on Tuesday May 9 to its first four-legged clientele, and to their humans.
Magali Marcovic, 36, thought of everything when creating her business: catering service and tea room for owners, canine health and well-being services by appointment (naturopath, physiotherapist, masseur, grooming room, etc.), Handpicked handcrafted accessories and exotic treats, indoor toys and cushions, outdoor rubber balls. This former bank employee, who has long had a passion for dogs, is also secretary of Hophophop on adopt, an association for raising awareness of animal protection. She conducted a small survey upstream of the inhabitants of Meaux, to find out if the project would be of interest. In just three days, she had received more than 400 positive responses on her Google Form. She then opened an Ulule kitty, still online.
