This is her first reaction since what she describes as “media outburst”. The coach of the Bleues Corinne Deacon, criticized by several internationals, said this Wednesday “fully determined to carry out (her) mission” at the Mondial-2023 with the France team despite a “destabilizing operation”, in a press release forwarded to AFP.
“In view of the shameful media outburst of recent days, I nevertheless wish to publicly reaffirm (…) that I am fully determined (…) to honor France at the next World Cup”, detailed the patron saint of the Blue on the eve of a federal executive committee where her future will be discussed.
A “dishonest smear campaign”
Deacon, in office since 2017 and under contract until the summer of 2024, is the target of criticism from executives of the France team, including captain Wendie Renard and star attackers Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani, who have decided to withdraw from the selection.
“For more than ten days, I have been the subject of a smear campaign that astounds with its violence and dishonesty. My detractors do not hesitate – without bothering with the truth – to attack my personal and professional integrity, four months before the World Cup, ”says the technician in the press release sent by her lawyer, Christophe Ayela.
“I will not let myself be affected by this destabilization operation, which does not take into account my sporting record, and which has the sole objective of settling personal scores”, asserts the former coach of the men’s team of Clermont (L2 ).
Deacon was auditioned on Tuesday, according to her lawyer, by the members of the federal commission of which Jean-Michel Aulas, the boss of Olympique Lyonnais, is a member, who has revealed his wish to see her leave in recent days.
“I would like to thank Mr. Jean-Michel Aulas for having assured me, in the light of the information already collected by the commission, that he was ready to reconsider his public remarks by now considering the situation with objectivity and impartiality,” she says.
